  29.     To test for transparency of my plane, I have a 
  30. background pic, 
  31. that my plane sits in front of.  When I trace the picture, 
  32. the plane is 
  33. fully visible as a black square, with my figure pic in the 
  34. center.  The 
  35. black areas are not clipped.  It's as if the clip-map 
  36. effect HAS no 
  37. effect at all, since the picture renders identically 
  38. whether I have it 
  39. activated or not.

  41.     This process is such a snap in Imagine, I'm rather 
  42. surprised at
  43. having so much trouble with it in this supposedly superior 
  44. program.

  56. To my understanding, it is always suggested to use a two 
  57. color, B&W image for clip mapping.  It doesn't use 
  58. grayscale values as does diffusion mapping or transparency 
  59. mapping, with clipping mapping it's either "clipped" where 
  60. the image is white, or "not clipped" where the image is 
  61. black.  Hope this helps.
